Plagiarism Policy

Rigel. Revista de estética y filosofía del arte is committed to maintaining high standards of academic integrity and originality. All manuscripts submitted to the journal must represent original scholarly work and must properly acknowledge the ideas, words, data, arguments, and other contributions of other authors. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious violation of academic and publishing ethics and will not be tolerated.

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the unauthorized use or reproduction of another person’s words, ideas, arguments, data, research findings, images, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment. This includes direct copying without quotation and citation, substantial paraphrasing without attribution, inappropriate reuse of previously published material, and presenting another person’s work as one’s own. The journal also considers self-plagiarism and redundant or duplicate publication to be matters requiring editorial attention when previously published material is reused without appropriate disclosure.

All submitted manuscripts may be subject to plagiarism and originality screening during the editorial and peer review process. The use of similarity-detection software or other appropriate screening methods may assist the editorial team in identifying potentially problematic overlap. A similarity report is not, by itself, a determination of plagiarism; the editorial team may assess the nature, context, source, and extent of any identified overlap before making a decision.

Where substantial plagiarism or other forms of inappropriate textual or intellectual appropriation are identified before publication, the manuscript may be rejected. Authors may be asked to provide clarification or make appropriate corrections in cases involving minor or inadvertent citation problems. Serious or deliberate violations may result in rejection of the manuscript and, where appropriate, notification of the relevant institution or other responsible authority.

If plagiarism or significant unattributed duplication is discovered after publication, the journal may investigate the matter and take appropriate corrective action. Depending on the seriousness of the case, such action may include publication of a correction, editorial notice, expression of concern, or retraction of the published work. The journal may also restrict future submissions from authors found to have engaged in serious academic misconduct.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions are properly cited, accurately attributed, and free from plagiarism before submission. All contributors should carefully review the manuscript and verify that quotations, paraphrased material, data, images, and other sources are appropriately acknowledged. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work has been prepared in accordance with accepted standards of academic integrity.
